Belmar (N.J.) St. Rose 2024 three-star small forward Matthew Hodge has committed to Villanova.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound senior chose the Wildcats over offers from Maryland, Marquette, Penn State, Seton Hall, and others.

“I chose Villanova because I felt like their vision for me and the way they see me coming in next year was pretty exciting,” Hodge said to On3. “The connection I had with the staff was great!”

In his own words, what type of player is Villanova getting in Hodge?

“I’m a versatile player who is able to play multiple positions on the court. I want to win and help my team to do anything to win games.”

Scouting Report

“The skill is the take away after watching Matthew Hodge. In the 6-7, 6-8 range, he always seems to play on balance, off two feet and never out of control. He can shoot with range and a quick, consistent release and he can process in the half court with precise passes from different angles and levels. The athleticism is the question, and how well does he move laterally. He moves well off the ball, seems to often be in the right spot at the right time. Like to see him continue to develop off the bounce. Dad, O’Dell Hodge, was all-league for multiple years at ODU and played pro overseas. A high IQ player.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
