Villanova guard Kris Parker plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Parker transferred to Villanova last offseason after redshirting his true freshman year at Alabama.

In his lone campaign with the Wildcats, Parker made 27 appearances but didn’t start. He averaged 2.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 10.1 minutes per game. He shot 43.6% from the field and 20.0% from beyond the arc.

Parker had his best performance of the season in Villanova’s 100-56 win over DePaul. In the blowout victory, Parker tallied 11 points while shooting 4-5 from the floor.

Kris Parker played high school basketball at Crossroad Academy (FL), where he was a four-star recruit. He was the No. 105 overall player and No. 26 small forward in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Parker averaged 24.8 points, 14.2 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game during his senior season at Crossroad Academy. For his efforts, he was named the 2023 Florida Class 2A Player of the Year.

Now, Parker will look to reach new heights elsewhere. Parker is the second Villanova player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. He is joined by Nnanna Njoku, who entered the portal on March 24.

Villanova will have a new look next season. On March 30, the school hired Kevin Willard to be the Wildcats’ next head coach. Willard has spent the past three seasons at the helm of Maryland, guiding the Terrapins to a 65-39 overall record and a 32-28 mark in conference play.

Willard had his best season at Maryland this year. The Terrapins posted a 27-9 record and made their first Sweet Sixteen appearance under Willard. The 50-year-old head coach will look to lead Villanova to similar success next season.

“My family and I would like to thank the Villanova Board of Trustees, President Father Peter Donohue and Eric Roedl for this incredible opportunity,” Willard said. “Villanova Basketball has a deep tradition of excellence and a culture that is second to none in college basketball. We are thrilled to be a part of it and join the Villanova community.”
