Virginia’s Marlon Yarbrough (No. 23) came to wrestle Thursday afternoon, upsetting Penn State’s Aaron Nagao (No. 10) 13-5 in the first round of the 133 pound bracket.

In a high flying first period, Yarbrough landed two takedowns and with Nagao escaping both times, but it was a 6-2 lead for the Cavalier. Yarbrough then rode out Nagao to preserve his lead and eventually got another takedown to extend his lead 9-3.

In the third period, he would get one more takedown and cruise to the victory despite allowing a reversal.

With the win, Yarbrough will take on No. 7 Nasir Bailey (Arkansas-Little Rock) in the second round, which begins in Session 2 Thursday night.
