Former Notre Dame WR Jayden Thomas commits to Virginia

Former Notre Dame wide receiver Jayden Thomas committed to Virginia out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned.
Thomas finished the 2024 season with 18 catches for 167 yards, two touchdowns and 9.3 yards per catch. Over the course of his career, Thomas has 64 catches for 838 yards, seven touchdowns and 13.1 yards per catch.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Thomas was a three-star recruit out of Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 37 overall prospect in the state, the No. 63 wide receiver in the class and the No. 440 overall prospect in the class.

Ironically, Thomas switched spots with former Virginia WR Malachi Fields. Fields is off to Notre Dame for the 2025 season.

This past season he earned third-team All-ACC honors after leading Virginia with 55 receptions for 808 yards and five touchdowns.
Fields signed with Virginia after being ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 49 athlete in the country in the class of 2021, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He appeared in 11 games that season, making one start. He finished the year with 11 receptions for 172 yards.
During the 2022 season, Fields only appeared in one game, catching five passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. He then had a breakout year in 2023, catching 58 passes for 811 yards and five scores.
Fields followed that up by putting together another strong season in 2024. He is now joining a Notre Dame team that finished 11-1 in the regular season and reached the College Football Playoff this year.
