Steph Curry and a number of other stars were in the house tonight to watch the Virginia Cavaliers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies. Virginia guard Reece Beekman decided to put on a show for them to close the first half. The Hokies and Cavaliers were in the middle of a back-and-forth first half, when Beekman injected some juice into the crowd of John Paul Jones Arena with an emphatic slam to finish off the first half. In the closing seconds of the first half, Beekman calmly dribbled up the floor, into the painted area, and took off outside the restricted circle.

Virginia Tech power forward Lynn Kidd was a step slow in rotating over to defend Beekman, and made a half-hearted attempt to block his shot. It was too late, and Beekman soared through the air and sent in a dunk with authority, much to the delight of the John Paul Jones Arena crowd.

Check it out below. You can see Steph Curry’s reaction towards the end of the video highlight as it shows Curry’s reaction courtside.

The dunk gave the Cavaliers a 40-31 lead at the end of the first half. Beekman finished the first half with eight points. Armaan Franklin led all Cavaliers with 12 points in the first half.

Virginia had 26 points in the painted area in the first half. Virginia Tech only had six points in the paint in the first half.

There are plenty of stars at the game, former Cavalier legend Ty Jerome is in the house, too. He’s sitting right beside Steph Curry at courtside. You can also see Jerome’s reaction to the dunk above in the highlight clip. Virginia Tech football legend Mike Vick is at the game, too.

Curry’s father, Dell Curry, was one of the greatest players in Virginia Tech basketball history. He was inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 1996, his first year of eligibility.

Virginia ended up winning the game 78-68 and they had five players score in double-figures. Beekman dumped in 11 points and dished out seven assists in the win. Kihei Clark led all scorers with 20 points and he also dished out five assists for the Cavaliers.
