LOOK: Virginia star guard Kihei Clark announces decision on future with team
Kihei Clark, star guard of the Virginia menโs basketball team, has announced that heโs returning to play one more season for the Cavaliers. On Monday, the team announced that their All-ACC point guard will return and play a fifth season at the school under head coach Tony Bennett.
Over his career with the Cavaliers, Clark has been critical to their success on the court. In his freshman season, he contributed to their 2019 national championship, playing in all 38 games that year.
While Clark and Virginia are familiar with the highs of college basketball, last season was a low in terms of the programโs recent success. Clark averaged just 10 points per game, shooting under 40 percent from the field at 38.7 percent. The Cavaliers finished last season with a 19-13 overall record and went 12-8 in conference play. That performance resulted in Virginia missing the NCAA tournament for the first time in nine years.
With Clark returning for his fifth and likely final season, his presence and leadership gives the Cavaliers another shot at an NCAA tournament run and possible championship.
