WATCH: Kihei Clark lobs alley oop to Kadin Shedrick
The Virginia Cavaliers won their first matchup with Duke in Durham, 69-68. Tonight in Charlottesville, Kihei Clark came out like a man possessed to make sure his Cavaliers battled the Blue Devils until the very end. He exploded for 18 points in the first half, drilling six three pointers. Then in the second half, he lobbed this beauty of an alley-oop up to Kadin Shedrick for the epic dunk.
Check it out below.
The dunk cut the Duke lead to 44-40 with under 12 minutes to play in the second half.
The Blue Devils currently remain in first place of the ACC. They won the game in a hard-fought contest, 65-61. Duke’s AJ Griffin buried a couple of clutch threes in the game’s final minutes to lift the Blue Devils to victory. The fans in Charlottesville were treated to a classic back-and-forth game between the two rivals that saw high level basketball from both teams.
Kihei Clark had a career-high 25 points after the dust settled. He also dished out seven assists in what will go down as one of the best games in his memorable Virginia Cavalier career. Coming out of high school, Clark didn’t even have a single Division-I-A scholarship offer. He originally committed to UC-Davis. But after an impressive summer on the 2017 AAU circuit, he decided to de-commit from UC-Davis and re-open his recruitment.

Virginia’s Tony Bennett took a chance on Clark and the 5-foot-9 point guard committed to the Cavaliers in October of 2017. He was a huge reason why the Cavaliers won the 2019 National Championship. His one-handed half-court pass to Mamadi Diakite is one of the more famous passes in NCAA Tournament history.
This season, Clark has been averaging 9.9 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game. He’s improved his three-point shooting as his career has progressed at Virginia. This year, he’s averaging 36.4 percent from beyond-the-arc.
The Cavaliers will need to win their final two games and likely make a bit of a run in the ACC Tournament if they want a shot of squeaking in the NCAA Tournament. Before tonight’s game, Joe Lunardi had Virginia as one of his last four teams out of the tournament in Bracketology. Virginia will finish their regular season against Florida State (Feb. 26) and at Louisville (March 5).
