3-star combo guard Jaydon Young commits to Virginia Tech
Class of 2023 three-star Jaydon Young tells On3 he’s committed to Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard from Greensboro (N.C.) Day School chose the Hokies over offers from USF, UNCG, Charlotte, and a handful of others.
According to the On3 Consensus, Young is ranked as the No. 159 overall prospect in the 2023 class. He’s also the No. 23 combo guard and the No. 8 player in the state of North Carolina.
Jaydon Young becomes Virginia Tech’s second addition to the 2023 class, joining three-star point guard Brandon Rechsteiner.

Young talks commitment to Virginia Tech
Young sent to the following statement to On3 regarding his commitment to the Hokies.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God because I’m nothing without him. I want to say a huge thank you to my parents for the sacrifices, support, motivational speeches, and love that they give through all the high and lows of this process. Also, to my siblings and entire family for their continuous love and support. I also would like to thank all of my coaches for helping me develop into the player and young man I am today. To all the coaches that recruited me, thank you…
“I will be attending Virginia Tech University to further my academic and athletic career,” Young said to On3. “They are without a doubt what’s best for my family and I. We’ve built a relationship with every coach and love what they have to offer. As a basketball player, it’s important to decipher who’s genuinely interested in you as a person and a player! Virginia Tech has shown their love for me since day one, and I wanted to go where I know I was going to be appreciated. Hokie Nation, Let’s get it! 🦃🧡”
