Former Old Dominion star Ali Jennings was turning heads with the Virginia Tech Hokies in this year’s fall camp. Now that he’d finally recovered from an ankle injury he suffered in September of 2023, the playmaker was poised for a big year for the Hokies. Unfortunately for Jennings, he’s only played in two games this year before going down with another injury.

The good news for Virginia Tech fans is that he’s been progressing over the past few weeks. VT head coach Brent Pry gave an update on his status this week, ahead of the Hokies matchup with Stanford.

“Ali, I wish it was moving a little bit quicker than it is. He’s working hard at it. He got good practice time again today. I think it’ll be a game-time decision again,” Pry explained to reporters.

Jennings was expected to have a big year this season in bouncing back from his injury. He wasted little time in showing up, hauling in a 62-yard touchdown catch in their season-opener against Vanderbilt. The score put the Hokies up 27-20 with 4:21 remaining. Virginia Tech has been battling a number of injuries to key players on both sides of the ball, and if Jennings could come back, it’ll be massive for their passing attack and quarterback Kyron Drones.

Virginia Tech just lost a heartbreaker of a football game to the Miami Hurricanes, 38-34. It was one of the best games of the 2024 college football season. And it was a controversial finish, with Miami and Virginia Tech players battling for the Hail Mary in the final seconds of the game.

Virginia Tech and Stanford will face off on Saturday. Kick time for that one is set for 3:30 PM EST. The game will be televised on the ACC Network.
