Brent Pry after Bhayshul Tuten's record-breaking night: 'He's a dog'
Bhayshul Tuten had a career-best game and a record-breaking outing last night in Blacksburg.
Brent Pry spoke highly of Tutan after the Hokies’ running back rushed for a school record of 266 yards in a 42-21 win last night over Boston College. He clearly got one of the game balls as he was finally healthy enough to post a stat line like that for Virginia Tech.
“Yeah, we obviously gave him a game ball, you know. He’s a dog,” said Pry. “He looked fast…You know, once he gets out there in the open, he’s hard to catch now.
“You know, he’s finally healthy,” Pry added. “He didn’t wear his brace tonight. The medical staff approved that he was confident.”
Again, Tutan ran for 266 yards, good for 14.8 per carry on 18 touches, for three touchdowns. All of those were the best of his career or tied for the best in his time in college at Virginia Tech or North Carolina A&T. Not to mention that Tutan also caught an additional score for 20 yards to give him four total in the game.
Pry doesn’t usually go for someone playing just to have a record, especially an individual one. Still, Tutan earned it and will be part of history now at VT.

“I normally don’t like that. But, I mean, a school record at a place like Tech where there’s been so many great running backs? He was deserving of his performance,” said Pry.
However, Pry also credited the unit around him for the blocking that contributed to those numbers
“I thought the holes were big holes that he was running through,” said Pry.
“Credit to the O-line. We gave them a game ball as well. You get that kind of rushing yardage? It’s special,” Pry added. “I’ve been saying that they’ve been getting better every week. That’s a good rush defense that we went against tonight and I thought the way we were able to do some things? Our blocking on the perimeter was really good – not just up front. Proud of the effort.”
Pry was proud of one of the better performances of the entire season by Tutan. The senior back will now have a week off before he gets running again next weekend against Georgia Tech.
“Very proud of the way he played tonight,” said Pry. “I think he’s a special back.”
