With over 200 days still until kickoff, Brent Pry has shared some thoughts on what the Hokies’ schedule looks like for next season.
Pry did so at a recent press conference last week. As of now, though, he hasn’t given it too much of a thought yet with them still a few weeks out from spring practice in Blacksburg.
“Yeah, honestly, um, I haven’t dove into it a ton,” said Pry. “I mean, obviously, I know what it looks like.”
The first thing that Pry did note about the Virginia Tech’s schedule were the aspects of their conference slate in the ACC. Their league opponents next fall will be NC State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, California, Louisville, Florida State, Miami, and Virginia. That includes road trips to Raleigh, Atlanta, Tallahassee, and Charlottesville. There is also one weekday date right now with their game against the Golden Bears being on either October 23rd (Thursday) or October 24th (Friday).
“You know, we’ve got to see where that game, that Cal game falls,” Pry said. “And, you know, we’ve got to do, you know, the away trips and make sure we plan the way we need to for those.”

First up, though, will be a four-game stretch of a non-conference that will open their season with two opponents out of the SEC. They will play South Carolina in Atlanta inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a game in which they’re already a near-double-digit underdog in during the season’s opening week, before hosting Vanderbilt in the second part of their home-and-home series the week after. With both having winning records and earning a ranking at some point last season, it’ll make the start of next year that much more difficult, with more preparation to do because of that, for Virginia Tech.
“I think, you know, we’ve already – you know, we’ve had South Carolina film rolling in the office,” said Pry. “You know, there’s some projects being done there on South Carolina and Vanderbilt.”
Again, the Hokies are still not even into the spring yet with almost seven months until they play the Gamecocks on the final day of August. That’s just the overall view of what Pry does see right now when it comes to Virginia Tech’s schedule for 2025.
“To the extent, that’s about it right now,” Pry said.
