There’s no shortage of programs that are hunting the pledge of Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor four-star safety JaDon Blair.

As the elite prospect awaits his senior season of high school football, he’s beginning to figure out who the top contenders in his recruitment are. On Wednesday, he officially locked in an official visit.

Blair announced via social media that he’ll return to Blacksburg for an official visit to Virginia Tech from April 12-14. The Hokies are one of five teams currently slated to have Blair on campus for an OV.

Earlier this week, On3’s Chad Simmons reported that Blair has also set OVs with South Carolina (May 31), Notre Dame (June 11), Michigan (June 14) and Penn State (June 21). The Hokies have been a consistent contender in his recruitment amongst some high-profile programs, however. Blair made three visits to VT in 2023.

Blair is the No. 122 overall prospect and No. 13 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 player in North Carolina.

On3 ranks Blair much higher than other recruiting services. He checks in as the No. 43 recruit, No. 2 safety and No. 3 player in his home state, per the newly updated 2025 On300.

JaDon Blair is expected to narrow his list down in the near future,” Simmons wrote. “Since visiting South Bend in the fall, the Irish have been trending for the four-star safety out of Winston-Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor. He has a great connection with the staff and likes the balance of academics and athletics at Notre Dame.”

Hokies looking for centerpiece pledge in 2025 cycle

For the first time since the 2019, Va Tech finished with a recruiting class ranked inside the top 40 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The Hokies signed 16 prospects in the 2024 cycle, compiling the No. 32 class in the nation.

Headlining the class is Washington (D.C.) St. Vincent Pallotti four-star linebacker Gabriel Williams, the No. 219 overall recruit and No. 19 LB in the cycle.

Four prospects make up the 2025 pledge list, as of Feb. 28. Virginia Beach (Va.) Green Run teammates three-star wide receiver Jayden Anderson and cornerback Knahlij Harrell both committed on Feb. 9, joining Keller (Texas) DeSoto three-star quarterback Kelden Ryan and Christiansburg (Va.) three-star offensive tackle Carter Stallard.
