Former Oklahoma EDGE Kelvin Gilliam commits to Virginia Tech
After three weeks in the transfer portal, former Oklahoma Sooners EDGE Kelvin Gilliam has found his new home for the 2024 season. On Thursday, Gilliam revealed from his social media account that he would be transferring to Virginia Tech to play for Hokies head coach Brent Pry.
Gilliam has spent the entirety of his collegiate career at Oklahoma since committing to play for the Sooners back in 2021. As a true freshman, he played in one game before deciding to redshirt. In the following seasons, 2022 and 2023, Gilliam would see an increase in playing time playing in 15 games, nine in 2022 and six in 2023, for Oklahoma. He leaves the Sooners with a stat line of 10 total tackles, three solo, and .5 tackles for a loss.
played high school football at Highland Springs High in Highland Springs, VA, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 102 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
