Kyron Drones, Bhayshul Tuten injury updates: Status revealed for Virginia Tech stars vs. Clemson
Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten got the start for the Hokies for Saturday’s ACC showdown against Clemson.
The two players are playing after missing last Saturday’s game against Syracuse. The news comes as both Virginia Tech and Clemson look to bounce back from tough losses last weekend.
Kyron Drones has thrown for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns for Virginia Tech so far this season. He’s also rushed for 323 yards and six scores.
Bhayshul Tuten has put up massive numbers for Virginia Tech, rushing for 951 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games this season. He also has 18 receptions for 56 yards and two touchdowns.
Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry provided an update on the two stars on Tuesday of this week.
“Yea, they’re both questionable right now,” he said. “They’re obviously better than they were. Kyron, better than he was last week at this time. Bhayshul probably yet to be determined. Today we find out a lot. Hopefully by the end of tomorrow we feel good about both of those guys.”
With Drones and Tuten out last weekend, Virginia Tech still nearly pulled off a road win at Syracuse.

Collin Schlee started for Virginia Tech at quarterback in place of Drones and completed 16-24 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown against Syracuse. He also rushed for 54 yards and a score.
Virginia Tech jumped out to a 21-3 lead against the Orange but was unable to hold on and eventually lost in overtime.
Schlee also got banged up during the game and stayed down for several minutes after the final play of the game. However, Pry believes he should be OK moving forward.
“Yea, I think he’s good to go,” Brent Pry said. “He’s cleared to practice today. He’s a little sore… but he’s a tough guy. He’s cleared to practice.”
