Mylyjael Poteat returning to Virginia Tech in 2024-25
Just two days after he entered the NCAA transfer portal, Virginia Tech forward Mylyjael Poteat has had a change of heart and will remain with the Hokies for the 2024-25 season.
The talented forward announced his decision to remain at Virginia Tech on his Instagram account.
“After speaking with my family and my coaches, I’ve decided there’s no other place I’d rather be for my final year than Blacksburg,” Poteat wrote. Hokie Nation is special, from our coaches, our fans and our community. This is just the beginning, stay tuned. THIS IS HOME!”
Poteat has a tremendous amount of experience in college, playing at both Rice and Virginia Tech. His return will give the Hokies back at least one veteran piece, following a number of players entering the NCAA transfer portal.
The 6-foot-9 forward has appeared in 114 games between the two programs and played in just over a dozen minutes a game. In those outings, he averaged 5.7 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 63.5% from the field.
During his time in Blacksburg, Poteat has posted 4.9 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 64.3% from the field in 68 games.
Mylyjael Poteat played high school basketball at The Burlington School in North Carolina. He was unranked there as a member of the 2020 cycle.
Virginia Tech’s Sean Pedulla enters the transfer portal
Virginia Tech guard Sean Pedulla plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on his Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

Pedulla noted that while he will be in the transfer portal, he will also be “strongly considering a return to Virginia Tech” for his last season of eligibility.
The 6-foot-1 guard averaged a career best 16.4 points per game during the 2023-24 season. He also chipped in 4.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds, a well-rounded player and the heart and soul of the Hokies.
In three seasons at Virginia Tech, Pedulla has played in 102 games, while starting 66 of them. He is a career 35.5% 3-point shooter.
Sean Pedulla isn’t the only Hokies player who put his name into the transfer portal this week. On Tuesday, a pair of other players did in C Lynn Kidd and F John Camden.
