One of Virginia Tech‘s top transfer additions this offseason won’t be able to help in 2024-25, with the Hokies announcing guard Hysier Miller is no longer with the program.

Miller was a point guard transfer from Temple, where he turned into a star last season.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard averaged 15.9 points per game for the Owls last season, while also averaging 4.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. He could seriously fill up the stat sheet.

Virginia Tech’s statement didn’t provide many illuminating details on Hysier Miller’s departure from the program, noting only that he “has been permanently released” from the team “due to circumstances prior to his enrollment at Virginia Tech.”

The program noted that it would not have further comment on the matter.

Hysier Miller was a senior who had gotten in three full seasons of college basketball action.

He first appeared on the scene at Temple in 2021-22, when he averaged 18.8 minutes per contest, starting in eight of his 23 appearances. He finished the year with 4.9 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
