Virginia Tech basketball's Justyn Mutts will serve one-game suspension for NCAA violation
The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team just released a statement regarding the status of star forward Justyn Mutts‘ availability for their season opener versus Delaware State. According to the report, Mutts will be unavailable for their matchup on Monday as he serves out his NCAA-mandated one-game suspension.
“Virginia Tech Justyn Mutts will be unavailable for Monday season opener vs. Delaware State. Mutts will serve an NCAA-mandated one-game suspension for participation in a non-NCAA certified event earlier this year when he was going through the pre-NBA Draft process. Mutts will continue to practice with the team in preparation for his season debut Thursday, Nov. 10 vs. Lehigh.”

Last season for the Hokies, Mutts led the team in steals (1.2), rebounds (7.4), and assists (3.4) per game. He was also the team’s second-best scorer behind Keve Aluma, averaging 10.1 points per game.
Not having their senior star on the court Monday will be a blow for Virginia Tech. But fortunately, it is just a one-game suspension, and he will be back on the court in the Hokies’ second game of the season.
