Virginia Tech DB Mose Phillips III plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal
Virginia Tech DB Mose Phillips III plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Phillips III spent the past two seasons in Blacksburg. After spending his pair of years as an underclassman with the Hokies, though, he’ll have two more years of eligibility wherever he transfer following his official entry into the portal.
While with VT, Phillips III appeared in 25 games at safety for their defense.
In those games, Phillips III posted 92 tackles, three deflections, a pair of forced fumbles, a sack, and an interception. Most of that came this past season as a sophomore where he was very productive in their secondary with 65 tackles, one of his forced fumbles, and all of his deflections, sacks, and picks. The tackles were tied for third-most on their defense this year.
Phillips III, a Nashville native, played high school football at Cane Ridge. He was the No. 1,295 overall recruit there as a three-star prospect in the 2023 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as a Top-150 safety in the class and a Top-50 player out of the state of Tennessee.
