Brent Pry sends message to Virginia Tech fans following spring game

Virginia Tech fans know how to show out – there’s no doubt about it. As the Hokies are known for generating much fan support and creating electric environments for home football games in Blacksburg, their fans play a big role in that. Although Saturday was just a spring scrimmage game, Virginia Tech fans still came out in full force to support the Hokies.
With Virginia Tech, which is heading into its first season under new head coach Brent Pry, taking the field on Saturday for its annual Maroon vs. White spring game, the Hokies received great fan support at Lane Stadium – and that meant a lot to Pry.
Meeting with the media following the spring game, Pry sent a message to Virginia Tech fans thanking them for coming out and supporting him and his Hokies’ squad as they wrapped up the spring period.
“I’m glad you brought it up,” Pry said when asked what he thought of the atmosphere. “It was awesome. The fan base – unbelievable job coming out today. To be honest, the whole weekend’s been great. A lot of excitement and energy and support for Virginia Tech football, and with everything going on – softball, baseball.

“Just a really good vibe in Blacksburg today.”
Pry updates quarterback competition following spring game
When asked if he had made a firm decision on naming the Hokies’ starting quarterback following the spring game on Saturday, Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry gave a blunt and honest assessment of where his team stands.
“No I wouldn’t say that,” Pry said. “I thought Grant [Wells] played really well today. Obviously, Jason [Brown] and the offensive line struggled a little bit for the White group and that was tough on Jason. But Grant obviously threw some good balls and had a good first half out there.
“But we will evaluate the film and continue to work though the summer, and we will take that competition into preseason camp.”
