4-star WR Shamarius Peterkin commits to Virginia Tech
Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor four-star wide receiver Shamarius Peterkin has committed to Virginia Tech, he announced on Friday.
He chose the Hokies over NC State and North Carolina.
Peterkin is the No. 280 overall prospect and No. 45 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in North Carolina.
Make it two blue-chip wideouts in the Hokies’ 2025 recruiting class. Peterkin now sits atop the Virginia Tech pledge list alongside Bridgewater (Va.) Turner Ashby four-star WR Micah Matthews, who committed on July 10.

Head coach Brent Pry and the VT staff continue to push for a top-30 recruiting class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The class now consists of 16 commits and is heavily bolstered by in-state recruiting, as 11 of the pledges hail from the Old Dominion. Culpepper (Va.) Eastern View four-star linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh is also at the top of the class, as he and Matthews are each top-10 players in the state.
