Virginia Tech’s Jaydon Young plans to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.

Young just finished his sophomore season as a reserve mostly to this point with the Hokies. He has appeared in 58 games and, in that time, averaged 5.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. He made a big jump as an underclassman, though, as he posted 8.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists this year as a sophomore. That made Young the third-leading scorer this season for VT behind Tobi Lawal and Mylyjael Poteat.

Young, a native of Greensboro, was a three-star recruit and the No. 217 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle. He also rated as a Top-10 player in North Carolina and a Top-50 SG in the class. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Young isn’t the only planned entry into the portal for them either as of this morning. Rodney Brown Jr., a fellow sophomore who transferred in last season, is planning to enter his name in as well.
