Virginia Tech offensive lineman Xavier Chaplin plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a statement he released on Twitter.

As a member of the Class of 2022, Chaplin was a three-star recruit out of Seabrook (S.C.) Whale Branch, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 8 overall prospect in the state, the No. 43 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 665 overall prospect in the class.

He released a statement, expressing his gratitude for Virginia Tech.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Chaplin wrote on Twitter. “None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for Him. To my family and friends, I can never repay you for the unwavering support that has gotten me to this point in my career. Thank you for always being there for me. To Hokie Nation: Thank you for embracing a kid from Seabrook, South Carolina from day one. The atmosphere and love every time I stepped in Lane Stadium was unmatched. I hope you know that I gave you everything I had when I laced them up. It’s truly been an honor and a priviledge to dawn the burnt orange and maroon.”
