WATCH: Virginia Tech player levels fan after upset loss against Old Dominion
Virginia Tech had a rough night Friday night, falling to Old Dominion on the road. After the game, though, things got testy.
Hokies quarterback Connor Blumrick appeared to level an Old Domnion fan as the student section rushed the field after the Monarchs won the game 20-17.

The game was a battle of two former Penn State coordinators as Brent Pry made his head coaching debut for Virginia Tech against former Nittany Lions offensive coordinator Ricky Rahne. The two coaches worked together in State College from 2014-19 before Rahne left to take the Monarchs head coaching job.
It was a rough start for Pry, who’s taking over a Hokies program that struggled mightily toward the end of the Justin Fuente era last season. In fact, some coaches had a crazier night than others.

Virginia Tech coaches get stuck in elevator vs. Old Dominion
In one of the wildest occurrences in college football history, the Virginia Tech coaches were stuck in an elevator before the start of the second half of Friday night’s game between Old Dominion and Virginia Tech. The delay lasted for 15 minutes before the second half officially began.
The first half was wild enough, with a bad snap on a Virginia Tech field goal attempt leading to a scoop and score for the Monarchs.
The Monarchs stunned the Hokiesin the first half of Friday night’s matchup. Virginia Tech lined up for a field goal late in the first quarter to try and stretch its lead to 10-3, but it was completely botched by the Hokies’ snapper and holder. The ball was loose in the open field and then a scrum ensued, sending the ball further down the field.
From there, the Monarchs pounced on the football, and it was off to the races for six points.
