WATCH: Virginia Tech quarterback Grant Wells tosses 85-yard touchdown pass to Kaleb Smith
Virginia Tech quarterback Grant Wells has found his accuracy and in a big way the last two drives for the Hokies on Thursday night against the N.C. State Wolfpack. Early in the third quarter, he threw an 85-yard touchdown strike down the left sideline to his tight end, Kaleb Smith. The N.C. State corner fell down at around the 43-yard line and then it was just green grass in front of Smith for the 85-yard touchdown catch.
Check it out.
The beautiful touchdown toss put the Hokies up 14-3 with 9:18 remaining in the third quarter. It was a beautifully spun ball by Wells and one of the prettiest passes he’s thrown all season long for the Hokies. Earlier in the third quarter, he threw a strike that was dropped by his receiver in the end zone, but it was perfect coverage by the N.C. State defender.
