Gainesville (Fla.) The Rock School 2024 four-star power forward Ryan Jones has committed to Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-8, 225-pound senior ultimately chose the Hokies over the local program Florida, but also received offers from LSU, Miami, Xavier, Missouri, and others.

“I chose VT first because of the coaching staff and how much they love me as a person, more than a basketball player. Second, the culture that surrounds the team and the program as a whole. Plus, it fits me as a player and what they run during the games. Towards the end of the process, I felt in my heart that God told me VT because when I go its going to be for a reason bigger than basketball, because God could care less about the sport. I feel like he’s sending me on mission with a platform that could help me while I’m there.”

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Jones is the No. 66 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 9 power forward prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Jones breaks down his game and shares a message to Hokie fans

Ryan Jones broke down his game and style of play.

“I would describe my game as a player who is coachable, a great progressing shooter, a good rebounder who uses his physicality to wedge in different spots to grab the board. A player who wants to do things to get his teammates open while making himself open as well, and a player who try’s his best to do the little things, so when the big things come he’ll be prepared.”

He also has a message to Hokie fans.

“Hokie fans will be getting a God fearing, very hard working, good character human being. And the Hokies will not be disappointed.
