The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team locked up the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament and claimed at least a share of the ACC regular season title on Sunday with a win over North Carolina.

The Hokies topped the Tar Heels 74-62 to win their 25th consecutive home game, tying the program record. With a 15-0 mark at home this season, the Hokies have now gone unbeaten at home in three different seasons.

The program can claim the ACC title outright on Thursday night when it travels to Notre Dame.

The win also earned coach Kenny Brooks a $15,000 bonus for a top four regular season finish in the ACC, according to USA Today Sports’ Steve Berkowitz.

It was a dominant win over North Carolina from start to finish. The Tar Heels took an early lead, only to watch the Hokies go on an 11-0 run in the first quarter to take the lead. The run would turn into an extended 21-2 stretch, which put Virginia Tech up 21-5 early.

There were contributions from everywhere, but perhaps none as historic as those from point guard Georgia Amoore. She had a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists, helping spread the basketball around in the win.

Her 11 assists moved her into the sole lead in the school history books for most career assists.

The terrific ball movement in the contest led to 16 assists on 27 made field goals, an excellent ratio. Meanwhile, the team’s defense was equally on point.

North Carolina finished the game shooting just 39% from the field and 29% from beyond the 3-point line. Virginia Tech also dominated the glass with 32 defensive rebounds.

Some other notables from Sunday’s game were Elizabeth Kitley‘s 34 points in the contest. Meanwhile, Olivia Summiel turned in a game-high 14 rebounds. Matilda Ekh scored 11 points.

In total, 86% of the Hokies’ points in the game were scored by Kitley, Amoore and Ekh.
