Report: Former South Carolina, Auburn QB Robby Ashford commits to Wake Forest
Former South Carolina and Auburn quarterback Robby Ashford committed to Wake Forest, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed the news.
“Former South Carolina quarterback Robby Ashford has committed to Wake Forest, he tells ESPN,” Thamel wrote on Twitter. “He’s thrown for 2,082 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career. He’s played at South Carolina, Auburn and Oregon. He’s one of the most notable additions of new coach Jake Dickert.”
Ashford also told ESPN what really stood out about Wake Forest.
“Just what Coach Dickert is building and his vision for the program and wanting to win now, and the opportunity to come in and be the guy,” Ashford said.
Ashford noted other QBs like Cam Ward and John Mateer thrived under Dickert’s coaching.
“You see that, how could you not want to come to play for a coach like that,” Ashford told ESPN.
Robby Ashford appeared in eight games for the Gamecocks this season. He threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 227 yards and two scores.
