Ironton (Ohio) three-star running back Jaquez Keyes announced his commitment to Wake Forest on Sunday night. He chose the Deamon Deacons after backing off his pledge to Wisconsin on Dec. 5.

Keyes is the No. 666 overall prospect and No. 52 running back in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 21 player in Ohio.

“I thank God for leading me thru this process & for my family being by my side every step of the way,” Keyes wrote in a statement published to social media. “After a great official visit I am excited to announce I’m COMMITTED to @WakeFB.”

Wake Forest’s 2023 recruiting class now contains 21 commitments. The Ohio native is one of three running backs pledged to head coach Dave Clawson and his staff, alongside Deatsville (Ala.) Russell County three-star Drew Pickett and Windsor (Conn.) The Loomis Chaffee School three-star David Egbe.

At the moment, the Demon Deacons’ 2023 group is No. 44 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 8 in the ACC. Wake Forest’s highest-ranked recruit is North Palm Beach (Fla.) The Benjamin School four-star wide receiver Micah Mays, the No. 346 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Keyes has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6.2K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
