Wake Forest guard Davin Cosby plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

Wake Forest Demon Deacons guard Davin Cosby is planning to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He averaged 5.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists for the program over the course of this past season.
Prior to his time in Winston-Salem, Cosby played one season with the Alabama Crimson Tide, after using his redshirt in his true freshman season. In his lone active season in Tuscaloosa, Cosby made 22 appearances, averaging 3.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game while shooting 36.6% from the field and 34.4% from beyond the arc. He played 7.8 minutes per contest.
Moreover, Cosby played high school basketball at Word Of God Christian Academy (NC), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 116 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
When Cosby initially committed to Alabama, he claimed the university felt like home: “I chose Alabama because it felt like home as soon as I stepped on campus,” Cosby told On3. “The environment is great and I love the play style. The coaching staff and players are family and I fit in well with them.”

Wake Forest finished the 2024-25 college basketball season with a 21-11 record, including a 13-7 mark against ACC competition. Despite this, they did not make the NCAA Tournament field as only Duke, Louisville, Clemson and North Carolina were representing the conference in March Madness this season.
Despite compiling an 86-49 record over the last four years, which averages out to 21.5 wins per season, the Demon Deacons have not qualified for the NCAA Tournament since the 2016-17 season under former head coach Danny Manning. In total, Wake Forest has made the Big Dance just three times in the last 20 years. This follows a stretch from 1990-2005 where the Demon Deacons made the NCAA Tournament in all but three seasons.
