Wake Forest lands 4-Star cornerback Antonio Robinson, Jr.
Antonio Robinson, Jr,. visited Wake Forest the first time earlier this spring during his spring break. That trip to Winston-Salem pushed the Demon Deacons up his list.
He wasn’t quite ready to commit then.
The four-star cornerback out of Miami Florida Christian continued to take visits, explore his options, and evaluate the different schools, but after his official visit, he had that feeling.
Robinson visited Wake Forest late last week and he has found his future home.
“Wake Forest is it,” Robinson told On3. “After taking my official visit, I knew. I came back home, thought about it, and on Monday, I made the decision. I committed to Wake Forest.”
Cornerbacks coach Paul Williams has been recruiting Robinson for over two years. The two have created a strong relationship and that connection played a big role in this decision.
“I really love how coach Williams teaches and what his philosophy is as a cornerbacks coach. His ability to coach and how recruited meant a lot to me.
“He has always called to check in on me, he checks on my family, and he has recruited me hard since my freshman year. He likes me a lot as a player. From my style of play to my athletic ability, he thinks I can do big things at Wake Forest.”
Robinson said he chose Wake Forest over schools like LSU, Pittsburgh, and Texas. He not only connected with coach Williams, but also with head coach Dave Clawson and defensive coordinator Brad Lambert.

Robinson found the school for him
The overall fit pushed Wake Forest to the top.
“The official visit changed everything,” Robinson said. “The vibe with the coaches, how I saw the players all bringing each other up, and just the culture made a big impact on me.
“I did not go into the visit with a real top school, so the visit changed things for me. After spending a few days there, I knew it was right for me.
“It fit my style. It was laid back, I liked the environment, and I felt very comfortable.”
Robinson informed the coaches at Wake Forest of his decision on Monday, June 20. They can’t wait to get the No. 34 cornerback in the country on campus.
“They were so excited when I committed. The Wake Forest coaches love my athleticism and my versatility. They want to move me around from cornerback to nickel to safety. They also want to use me on kick return and punt return.
“I know the coaches love what I can do.”
