Washington RB Cameron Davis out for season due to injury
Washington running back Cameron Davis was ruled out for the 2023 season due to injury, according to head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Davis was the team’s leading rusher in terms of touchdowns last year. Now, the Huskies will be without their star running back.
Davis ran 107 times for 522 yards, 13 touchdowns, 4.9 yards per carry and had 19 catches and 137 receiving yards. It was his breakout campaign.
Over the course of his career, Davis has 209 carries for 903 yards, 15 touchdowns, 4.3 yards per carry and has 38 catches for 278 receiving yards.
As a member of the Class of 2019, Davis was a four-star recruit out of Upland (Calif.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 41 overall prospect in the state, the No. 25 running back in the class and the No. 286 overall prospect in the class.

Cameron Davis lost for season as Washington loses RB
Cameron Davis was slated to be a potential superstar out west this season. Unfortunately, his season was over before it began.
“He’s our 1,” offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said earlier this month, prior to the injury, via the Seattle Times. “I mean, it’s not very close right now. He is the guy that has all of it. I mean, you look back, you could argue one of the most important plays of the (2022) season was his catch on third down against Oregon State (during an eventual 97-yard, game-winning drive). … He’s the complete package.”
Davis was second on the depth chart last year but was poised to take over and be the main ball carrier in behind quarterback Michael Penix Jr. this season.
“I’ve been here the whole time Cam (Davis has) been here,” offensive line coach Scott Huff said of Davis. “I’m so excited about him. He has been just such an unbelievable team player with all the different backs that he’s split time with here. The most unselfish person that I’ve ever seen in a running back room. I feel like he’s really confident right now, and that’s so exciting to see.”
