Former Arizona State wide receiver Lonyatta ‘Junior’ Alexander has announced his transfer commitment to the Washington Huskies. Alexander played in just two games this season for the Sun Devils, not recording any statistics.

Alexander is a former four-star recruit according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Prior to choosing Arizona State in his original recruitment, he held an offer from Washington, in addition to offers from Oregon, Nebraska, Minnesota and others. Now, Alexander has chosen Washington and will be a Husky next season.

Alexander entered the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier in the week. As a former four-star recruit, Alexander undoubtedly has talent. He was also a top ten prospect in the state of Washington and a top 50 wide receiver in the 2021 class.

Alexander looks to help Washington improve after disappointing season

The 2021 season was undoubtedly underwhelming for Washington with a 4-8 finish. Washington ended the year on a four game losing streak, capping the year with a disappointing 40-13 loss to Washington State.

Adding Alexander will hopefully be a spart for an inconsistent Washington offense. The Huskies only had a 100-yard receiver in three out of their 12 games this season.

Jalen McMillian led Washington with 470 yards receiving this season. Terrell Bynum had 26 receptions for 436 yards and four touchdowns, while Rome Odunze had 41 receptions for 415 yards and four touchdowns. Odunze just announced on Saturday that he will be returning to Washington for another season.

Together, Odunze and Alexander are hoping to form a formidable pass catching duo on a team that is looking for wholesale improvement next season.

“I have full confidence in my Husky brothers, our coaching staff, and the Husky nation to take this program to great heights,” Odunze said of his decision. “With that being said I won’t be trading my Purple and Gold for any colors. I am all in with the Dawgs. My goals and aspirations remain the same! To win a national championship at the University of Washington.”
