4-star wide receiver Rashid Williams commits to Washington

Pittsburg (Calif.) wide receiver Rashid Williams has committed to Washington over Oregon State, Cal and a handful of other programs, he announced Thursday afternoon.

Williams took an official visit to Seattle this past weekend and made his commitment public, despite having trips to Oregon State and Cal were both scheduled for June. The Huskies offered just three months ago, but came on strong.

“I went up there for a day visit and I got to see the campus, the facilities, and meet some of the coaches,” Williams told On3’s Chad Simmons last week ahead of his visit. “I really like Coach (JaMarcus) Shephard and the head coach (Kalen DeBoer). … The people were cool and the vibes were really good, so I am going back.”

Relationships with the coaching staff, in particular his position coach, were some of the biggest factors for Williams, he said.

“Relationships with all the coaches at big for me, but especially the wide receivers coach. That is my position coach, that is the coach I would spend the most time with, and that is important.”

Potent passing offense key for Rashid Williams

Under DeBoer, the Huskies are expected to employ a lethal passing attack similar to the one who he built at Fresno State. The Bulldogs ranked in the top-15 nationally in both passing yardage and passing touchdowns a season ago. That is music to Rashid Williams’ ears.

“The offense is something I am looking at,” he said. “I want to go where they throw the ball and where I would be involved.”

Williams is the No. 271 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 40 wide receiver and the No. 17 junior in California.

As a junior this past season at Pittsburg playing alongside four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada, Rashid Williams hauled in 55 catches for 753 yards and 11 touchdowns.
