Heather Tarr raves about play of Lindsay Lopez
Heather Tarr couldn’t say enough positive things about Washington star Lindsay Lopez following the Huskies’ 4-1 victory over Utah.
The Washington skipper watched as Lopez pitched the Huskies to a key win at the Women’s College World Series, and afterwards she raved about the job the flamethrower has done over the 2023 season.
“I think Lindsay has been just learning herself,” stated Tarr. “When you go and mature in this game through a system, and she matured at ASU. Trisha Ford did an amazing job with her. She got to come to us next. We’re a completely different program.
“I just think for her, she’s really realizing the success she can have is in her. It’s her. It’s not where she is, it’s who she is. That’s been really cool to watch her really take ownership of that. I’m excited to see her go through this, but also go through another year with us.”
Evidently, Tarr believes Lopez has a bright future in softball with the Huskies, but her present has been pretty phenomenal to watch, as well.
Unfortunately, Heather Tarr and Lindsay Lopez will be watching the rest of the event at home, as losses to Florida State (3-1) and Stanford (1-0) sent Washington home from the Women’s College World Series. Nevertheless, the future is bright for the Huskies, and they should be a tough out for years to come.
Lindsay Lopez says escaping fourth inning vs. Utah gave her ‘a lot of confidence’
Continuing, Lindsay Lopez came out of the bullpen for Washington and salvaged a 4-1 win over Utah for a key victory in the Women’s College World Series earlier this week.

Lopez pitched 3.2 innings after coming in during the fourth inning. She surrendered just one hit, issued one walk and struck out two.
But she came in during a jam as Utah had its chance to even the score trailing 2-1.
“It gave me a lot of confidence,” Lopez said of coming in. “There’s been times with runners on. I really notice in those types of situations, my heart rate is so low. I just breathe through it all. That’s really helped me in my process.”
Washington led 3-1 after the fourth inning when Rylee Holtorf singled to center and scored Avery Hobson.
The Huskies tacked on one more in the bottom of the sixth and Lopez finished it up on the mound in the top of the seventh.
