Washington head coach Jedd Fisch announced QB coach Jimmie Dougherty would be the new offensive coordinator, accoridng to Andy Yamashita of The Seattle Times.

“Jedd Fisch announces QB coach Jimmie Dougherty will be the new offensive coordinator Michael Switzer, recently promoted to assistant offensive line coach, will now be the offensive line coach replacing Brennan Carroll,” Yamashita wrote.

Dougherty spent just one season, in his second stint, at Washington before getting the promotion. He began his coaching career in 2002 at Illinois Wesleyan as a DBs coach.

From 2004-08, Dougherty had numerous assistant positions, including OC, at San Diego. He then went to Washington from 2009-12 as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.

Following that stint, Dougherty coached at Michigan in 2016 as an offensive assistant before stops at UCLA (2017-20) and Arizona (2021-23).

Dougherty played QB at Missouri from 1997-2001. Now, he’ll replace the outgoing Brennen Carroll. He’s headed to the Las Vegas Raiders to be the new offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

So with Dougherty in the fold, it’ll be an interesting situation for Carroll, who goes to the NFL. He’ll be coaching under his father Pete Carroll, who returned to the NFL and will take over the Raiders in 2025.

Not only that, former Ohio State offensive coordinator and Oregon and UCLA head coach Chip Kelly is the new offensive coordinator. Kelly was last in the NFL when he was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles (2013-15) and San Francisco 49ers (2016).

After that, Kelly took a year off and worked as an analyst for ESPN.

He then took the head coaching job at UCLA in late 2017. He spent six years with the Bruins, compiling a 35-34 overall record with a 26-26 mark in conference play.

He ultimately left for Ohio State as offensive coordinator prior to the 2024 season, a move that shocked many in the sport.
