This weekend, Washington will take its unbeaten record on the road to Oregon State. Head coach Kalen DeBoer knows that this is going to be an incredibly difficult game, both because of how good a team the Beavers are and how motivated they will be.

Ahead of the game, DeBoer explained that he knows Washington is going to get Oregon State’s best shot.

“I think just to really simplify it down because, again, we’re focused on us and what we’re playing for,” Kalen DeBoer said. “But to help understand, much like we discussed this last week very briefly about Utah, their hopes and dreams are still alive to compete in the conference championship and just making it about that.”

The Pac-12 Championship Game is still up for grabs. Washington, unbeaten, will be playing in it. However, the Huskies opponent could change between Oregon, Oregon State, and Arizona. In particular, the Beavers have a chance to make noise with regular season games against Washington and Oregon remaining.

Already ranked 11th in the College Football Playoff rankings, Kalen DeBoer thinks that Oregon State could make some noise despite having two losses.

“Oregon State still have an opportunity if they won out to get in. The way I see it, anyway. So, knowing that, they’re going to bring everything they’ve got. They’re going to be at home, they’re playing well, they’ve got good momentum, and so just really making it that simple,” DeBoer said.

“Not about the other stuff, but about realizing that we’re gonna get their best shot, just like we have with everyone else.”

Beyond those on-field implications behind this game, there are plenty of off the field ones too. This is the last time these two will play for the foreseeable future, with Washington leaving for the Big Ten, helping to blow up the Pac-12. Getting a win in that final game would be massive.

Kalen DeBoer shares Washington’s health status

Following a tough game against Utah and going into a vital game against Oregon State, Kalen DeBoer shared an update on Washington’s health.

“Yeah, not bad; not bad at all,” DeBoer said. “I mean, just the typical football bumps and bruises and things like that. But we’ll see tomorrow, once we hit the field, how guys are moving around. But it was a physical game.”

With just two regular season games left, that’s great news for Washington fans. A healthy team should be in the best position possible to win the Pac-12 and go on to play in the College Football Playoff.
