On3 4-star EDGE Noah Carter commits to Washington Huskies: 'I want to join the family'
Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial four-star EDGE Noah Carter made his first visit to Washington last weekend for an official visit. The Huskies quickly caught his attention.
Carter was impressed by what head coach Kalen DeBoer and his staff offered both on and off the field. As a result, he committed to the Huskies on Monday.
“A big part was the Arizona connection,” Carter told On3. “They had around 10 players from Arizona already on the roster, not including the recruits that were there. They take care of Arizona people and another big part was how the team is a family. They’re very close. I saw it within the first three minutes of being out there. Everybody’s close, from the offense to the defense. Another good part is the city and how beautiful it is up there and how many opportunities are out there. We talked to a lot of businessmen, like the CEO of Starbucks. We also talked to the Mayor of Seattle.”
Carter marks the latest recruiting win for Washington, as the Huskies have landed commitments from him, Long Beach (Calif.) Long Beach Poly three-star wide receiver Jason Robinson, Glendora (Calif.) three-star tight end Decker DeGraaf and Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian wide receiver Justice Williams in the last three days. A 6-foot-3, 200-pound pass rusher, Carter will be returning to Seattle for multiple games in the fall, including Washington’s contest against Oregon on Oct. 14.
The Huskies won 10 games last year, which caught the attention of Carter. The No. 3 player in Arizona also likes how well the program has performed defensively, especially at creating pressure in the backfield and rushing the quarterback.
“They know what they’re doing,” said Carter, the No. 211 overall prospect and No. 18 EDGE in the 2024 On300. “They’re winning a lot right now. Their track record is impressive because wherever they go, they’re winning and they’re producing. That’s a big part. I talked with the strength and conditioning coach, who’s like a legend because he coached in the NFL and college. He knows what he’s doing. My heart just knows what it is.”
Carter believes Washington will set him up for success
During his official, Carter felt welcomed while speaking with staffers including DeBoer and special teams coordinator/EDGEs coach Eric Schmidt. He also caught up with players such as cornerback Dominique Hampton, who played his high school football at Centennial.

“He told me some positives, some negatives and why I should come to Washington,” Carter said. “He talked about why it’s a good option and the best option.”
According to Carter, he and Schmidt spent last weekend building their already strong relationship even more. At one point, the four-star sat in on defensive meetings to learn the Huskies’ philosophies and strategies, as well as hear coaches’ feedback on his film.
After watching Carter’s footage, the staff shared that they see him playing in a role similar to EDGEs Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui. Meanwhile, he spoke with DeBoer about the program’s expectations and the academic experience at Washington.
“The vibes out there I got were great,” Carter said.
Now that Carter’s recruitment is shut down, he is focused on helping build the Huskies’ 2024 class. Overall, he is feeling great about his future in the Pacific Northwest.
“It’s just family out there, so I get why they’re winning a lot because they’re very close,” Carter said. “I want to join the family.”
