Jedd Fisch is hiring one of his own to his staff at Washington.

Per reporting by ESPN’s Pete Thamel, JP Losman is joining the Huskies’ staff as an assistant quarterbacks coach. Losman and Fisch have history together as player and coach.

“Source: University of Washington is set to hire JP Losman as the school’s assistant quarterbacks coach,” Thamel tweeted on Thursday.

That wasn’t all as Thamel also reported that Washington has also hired Mike Brewster, another player from the league under Fisch, as an assistant offensive line coach.

Losman played for Fisch for two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and the Miami Dolphins when Fisch was their quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator in 2010 and 2011. He didn’t play at all for the Seahawks behind names like Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst while only appearing in a pair of games for the Dolphins behind Matt Moore and Chad Henne.

In his total career in the NFL with Buffalo, Oakland, and Miami, Losman completed 59.2% of his throws for 139.4 yards per game with 33 touchdowns and 34 interceptions. Essentially all of that came over four seasons with the Bills where he posted a record of 10-23 as a starter.

Since then, Losman has spent time over the past decade in coaching. That included stops at Clemson and most recently at Oklahoma as assistant director of player personnel for the Sooners since 2022.

With this, Losman will now work alongside their quarterbacks coach in Jimmie Dougherty, who they just promoted to offensive coordinator earlier this month. They’ll work together on offense with one of two new quarterbacks for Washington in either Demond Williams Jr. or Kai Horton (TulaneNo. 665, No. 52 QB per On3).

Fisch announces Dougherty as new offensive coordinator

Prior to the hire of Losman, Fisch announced that Jimmie Dougherty, Washington’s quarterbacks coach, would be the new offensive coordinator according to Andy Yamashita of The Seattle Times.

“Jedd Fisch announces QB coach Jimmie Dougherty will be the new offensive coordinator. Michael Switzer, recently promoted to assistant offensive line coach, will now be the offensive line coach replacing Brennan Carroll,” Yamashita wrote.

Dougherty spent just one season, in his second stint, at Washington before getting the promotion.

He’ll replace the outgoing Brennen Carroll, who’s headed to the Las Vegas Raiders to be the new offensive line coach and run game coordinator. He left to coach under Pete Carroll, his father, who has returned to the NFL in ’25.
