According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, former Tulane quarterback Kai Horton has committed to Washington. This was Horton’s second time going through the process, entering the NCAA transfer portal last offseason too. But Tulane was able to keep him for the 2024 season, having no such luck this go-round.

Horton will play in Seattle with Washington in what will be his final season of eligibility.

Just one appearance in 2024 was the lowest of his career. Horton attempted one pass, completing it for nine yards against Southeastern Louisiana. Darian Mensah was the Green Wave’s starter throughout the year while Ty Thompson served as the backup.

Neither of those guys are with the program heading into next season either. Mensah was highly sought after before signing with Duke. Thompson is still in the transfer portal and attempting to find his next home.

Looking at Horton’s career statistics, he has thrown for 833 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions while completing 52% of throws. The playing time has been quite sporadic with just 13 career games.

Horton played high school football at Carthage (TX), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,104 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Washington adds portal wide receiver via Penn State

Former Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans has committed to Washington, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Evans was a starter for the Nittany Lions in 2024 and caught 21 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns during the 2024 season. He will have one year of eligibility to play for the Huskies and chose Washington over TennesseeTexas Tech, and Syracuse.

Most recently, Evans was impactful in both the Big Ten Championship game vs. Oregon, and again in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Boise State this past season. Evans caught touchdown passes in both games despite having just three touches overall. However, Evans did not record any stats during the College Football Playoff semifinal vs. Notre Dame.

His best game came against Kent State in September, where he caught four passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Overall, Evans spent three seasons in Happy Valley where he had the best season of his career in 2024. In his first two seasons combined, he caught just nine passes but was able to make the most of it having gone for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns before his breakout junior season saw him set career highs across the board.
