Washington defensive back Justin Harrington entered the NCAA transfer portal for the second time in as many years. On3’s Pete Nakos reported the news.
Harrington began his Division 1 career at Oklahoma before transferring ahead of the 2024 season. He’ll now look for the third school of his career.
Harrington played in just three games this season, logging three tackles. Over the course of three years at the D-1 level, Harrington had 31 total tackles, two pass deflections and two interceptions.
As a member of the Class of 2018, Harrington was a four-star recruit out of Raleigh (N.C.) Southeast, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played JUCO ball before going to Oklahoma.

Justin Harrington enters portal amid defensive changes
With Harrington on the move, Washington’s defense will continue to look different in 2025. The team is reportedly finalizing a deal with former Purdue head coach Ryan Walters to become the new defensive coordinator.
Purdue marked Walters’ first head coaching opportunity after a career as an assistant coach. He previously served as the defensive coordinator at Illinois, turning the Fighting Illini’s unit into one of the best in the country and was seen as a rising star in the profession. His buyout sat at $9.5 million, On3’s Pete Nakos reported.
Purdue went 4-8 in Walters’ first season at the helm in 2023, but the Boilermakers struggled mightily in Year 2. They moved on from offensive coordinator Graham Harrell and went 1-11 in a year that ended with a crushing 66-0 defeat at the hands of Indiana. Ultimately, the school decided to make a change at head coach, as well.
