Washington basketball is reportedly on the verge of adding another high-profile game to its 2023-24 schedule.

According to Jon Rothstein, Washington and Colorado State are finalizing an agreement to face off in Las Vegas on Dec. 2. The game would be a part of a doubleheader with Gonzaga and USC facing off in the other game.

Washington is scheduled to play in Las Vegas earlier in the season, too. The Huskies will play in the Continental Tire Main Event on November 17 and 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. San Diego State, Saint Mary’s and Xavier will also play in the tournament. The full schedule will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited to play in such a prestigious tournament,” Washington head coach Mike Hopkins previously said in a statement. “The possibility of playing three teams that were all in the top-20 of the NET last season is incredible. This will be a great test to see where our team stands and where we have to go.”

Washington is coming off of a 16-16 season under Hopkins. The Huskies went 8-12 in the Pac-12 last season. Hopkins is entering his seventh season as the head coach of the Huskies.

Rutgers transfer Paul Mulcahy will help Huskies in 2023-24

Washington has a chance to be improved in 2023-24, in part because of Rutgers transfer Paul Mulcahy.

Mulcahy spent four seasons with Rutgers, including the last three as a starter for the program. He was named as a Big Ten honorable mention after this last season.

Additionally, the former Rutgers star averaged 8.3 points on 41.6% shooting, including 37.0% from beyond the arc, with 3.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

Now, Paul Mulcahy will hope to take his impressive gameplay from Rutgers and bring it to Washington, where he’ll look to elevate the entire Huskies roster in the process.

Paul Mulcahy is a former three-star recruit who was a member of the Class of 2019 who was the No. 141 recruit in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“I believe that the Covid year has been a blessing for me to have another chance to chase my dream,” he previously told Joe Tipton of On3. “I think Washington has some elite pieces over there and are hungry to win at a high level. I believe this decision will make me push myself harder than ever before.”
