The Washington Huskies had one of their most successful seasons in school history this year under new head coach Kalen DeBoer. They finished with a 10-2 overall record, including a stunning 37-34 upset of the Oregon Ducks in Autzen Stadium. The Huskies just unveiled their uniforms on Thursday night for their highly anticipated matchup with the Texas Longhorns and former Washington head coach, Steve Sarkisian. Washington will be donning their beautiful purple uniforms, with the gold chrome and purple helmets.

Check them out here.

Washington quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. has been one of the nation’s very best at his position

Washington quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. has established himself as one of the most gifted quarterbacks in all of college football this season and he’s got the prolific numbers to prove it. He torched defenses all season long to the tune of 4,354 passing yards, while tossing in 29 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. Penix completed 66 percent of his passes this year.

He threw some costly interceptions against the UCLA Bruins, but make no mistake about it, Penix found his best stuff right when his team needed it the most against the Oregon Ducks. Washington defeated Oregon in an absolute classic, 37-34, and it was in large part thanks to a devastating dagger of a pass by Penix.

The most critical throw Penix completed came with 3:17 remaining in the fourth quarter, when he delivered an absolute laser from his own 30-yard line on the right hash. He connected with his receiver Taj Davis down the left sideline. Davis caught the ball at around the Oregon 37-yard line, where he tight roped his way down the sideline to stay in bounds. Then, it was off to the races to end zone, and the game was tied at 34-34 with 3:07 remaining in the game. Once the smoke had cleared, Penix had completed 74.3% of his passes for 408 yards and two touchdowns, while tossing just one interception. There’s no question Washington doesn’t win that game without a heroic performance from their undisputed leader.

Penix’s favorite two targets have been the wide receiver tandem of Jalen McMillan and Rome Odunze. Odunze hauled in 70 catches for 1,088 receiving yards and seven touchdowns this year for Washington. And Jalen McMillan hauled in 71 catches for 1,040 receiving yards and eight touchdowns this year for the Huskies. The dynamic duo has combined to form one of the most prolific wide receiver rooms in all of college football this year. It’ll be exciting to watch them face off against Texas tonight.

The Alamo Bowl between Washington and Texas is set to kickoff tonight at 9:00 PM EST. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
