Washington cornerback Kyler Gordon had a chance to impress scouts Sunday during the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. The 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback posted an unofficial time of 4.57, giving teams plenty to think about as the draft approaches.

Gordon was a first team All-Pac-12 selection this past season after finishing with 45 tackles, two interceptions, seven passes defended and a forced fumble. He joined the Huskies in 2018 as a four-star recruit and the No. 22 cornerback in the class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He redshirted his first year before going on to become a full-time starter the past two seasons. The cornerback ended his college career with 97 tackles, two interceptions and 12 passes defended.

The 40-yard dash was the first drill of the day for Kyler Gordon, who still has ample opportunity to improve his draft stock. The Washington product was listed as the No. 8 cornerback prospect in the draft according to CBS Sports’ big board prior to the combine.

Gordon has previously received praise from NFL Draft analysts such as Daniel Jeremiah, who mentioned him as a potential pick for the Dallas Cowboys.

“He’s got the size and length that you love, he’s big-time explosive,” Jeremiah said. “It would be fun to see him on the other side of (Trevon) Diggs.”

Diggs, of course, led the NFL this past season with 11 interceptions. If the Cowboys do indeed opt to add Gordon alongside him, it would create a scary scenario for opposing quarterbacks next season.

The 2022 NFL Draft is set to begin April 28 in Las Vegas and will conclude April 30. Gordon has been projected anywhere from the first to second round but will hope his combine performance is enough to solidify his selection on Day 1. He will get another chance to show off his skills at the Huskies’ upcoming Pro Day, for which the date has yet to be announced.
