Hawthorne (Fla.) three-star 2023 EDGE Jailen Ruth has decommitted from Washington State, he announced Monday on social media.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder had been committed to the Cougars since July, when he chose them over offers from Vanderbilt, USF, Troy and a handful of others.

“First off I would like to thank the whole Washington State football recruiting staff on recruiting me and giving me the opportunity to play at the next level,” Ruth wrote on Twitter. “This has been a tough decision and not an easy one to make. After talking it over with my family, I have decided to DE-COMMIT from Washington State University. Please respect my decision! Thank you cougar nation for everything!! Washington State University will still be a top school in my recruitment!”
