WATCH: Washington State uses Valentine's Day to troll Washington

Valentine’s Day is the celebration of love, where most people throughout the world celebrate the people in their lives on Feb. 14. Unless you’re a college football program, where it’s the perfect opportunity to troll your in-state rival.
The Washington State Cougars put together a fun Valentine’s Day video, going after the Washington Huskies with a clip from The Bachelorette. Katie Thurston, who starred in the show’s 17th season and was labeled with the Washington State logo, called on a guy named Thomas to give him a rose with a Washington logo attached. However, it took an unexpected turn, with Thurston calling him “selfish, unkind, and a liar” before making Thomas leave.
You can watch the entire hilarious clip here.
Thurston is a native of Lynwood, WA, which is just over five hours away from Pullman. Using one of the most popular shows with a theme of love to troll your in-state rival is exactly what college football is all about in the offseason.
On the field, Washington State broke a seven-game losing streak to Washington this past season. In a series largely dominated by the Huskies, interim head coach Jake Dickert got a much-needed Apple Cup victory for the Cougars, propelling them to bowl eligibility.

The 40-13 final score provided the largest win in Apple Cup history as well for Washington State. With the game being in Seattle, it was the program’s first rivalry win on the road since 2007 and just the 14th all-time for a series dating back to 1914.
After the game, there was some controversy, with Cougars fans storming the field, despite being on the road. However, overcoming a long losing streak to an in-state rival combined with the margin of victory will always be a cause for celebration, even if you’re away from home. Washington will be looking to get revenge in Pullman next season, with the two set to face off on Nov. 26.
