2024 IOL Kyle Altuner talks West Virginia recruitment
Olney (Md.) Good Counsel three-star interior offensive lineman Kyle Altuner committed to West Virginia about midway through the 2024 recruiting cycle, pledging to the Mountaineers on June 10. Ever since then, it has been all gold and blue.
Other teams showed interest in Altuner — such as Florida State, Boston College and North Carolina State. But it never progressed beyond that after Altuner made it known that he was locked in with the Mountaineers.
“Yeah, you know I was starting to get looked at by Florida State, some of the ACC schools like NC State and Boston College as well,” Altuner said. “Those were the main schools that I was looking at as well, and they started picking up towards my senior year.”
West Virginia put together a 9-4 season in 2023 a year after finishing below a .500 winning percentage. Altuner’s commitment stayed strong as WVU continued to put a good product on the field, and he’s excited to play for the coaching staff in Morgantown.

“For me it was the development at West Virginia,” Altuner said. “And then the coaching staff as a whole was huge. I felt really comfortable there, I felt that was a good fit for me to be able to get developed.”
Now, he’s getting set to play in the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game on January 3. Then at the end of the school year, Altuner will make his way to Morgantown.
“My goal is to go in there and work as hard as I can, kind of help lead the time,” Altuner said. “My goal is to go in there and play as early as I can. And if I can do that, I can help contribute to them and keep their winning streak going.”
