3-star WR Jay'Quan Bostic commits to West Virginia: 'It's almost heaven'
After a pair of visits, Taft (Cincinnati, Ohio) three-star wide receiver Jay’Quan Bostic decided that Morgantown, West Virginia really was “almost heaven.”
Now, he has announced his commitment to the West Virginia Mountaineers. Bostic chose West Virginia over Michigan State and Kentucky.
“I knew after the official visit that I was going to West Virginia,” Bostic told On3. “As soon as I hopped out of the car to start my visit, I felt the love. At West Virginia, it is bigger than football. It is about family and brotherhood. They push you on and off the field to be a better man, they care about their players. That meant a lot in my decision.
“I have visited twice — spring practice, then my official visit. I love the atmosphere. It is about family, but it is about family, too. They have a great culture, West Virginia has 65,000 fans. They love their players. I can see why Tavon Austin, Noel Devine and Pacman Jones went there. It is almost heaven in Morgantown. It truly feels that way.”
Communication was key for Bostic
Bostic said that once the Mountaineers offered him on December 8, they maintained constant contact with him, his mom and his high school coach.
“I felt the love,” Bostic said. “The way they jumped on me right away meant a lot and I felt it from the start with them.”
That relationship between Bostic and the coaching staff in Morgantown remained strong through his visits. Bostic said that he made his college decision during his visit to Morgantown and committed in head coach Neal Brown’s office.

“As soon as I did it, it was all about love, hugs and I felt like part of the family,” Bostic said about his commitment. “Coach Brown was big in this too, he is like a father figure to me. He called me and he was very involved with me. Coach Brown always talked about why he needed me and why he wanted me. He feels I can come in and play as a freshman and be a freshman All-American. I believe in him and trust in him.”
Bostic also became close with defensive backs coach ShaDon Brown, with whom Bostic said he can “talk about anything,” — that the trust and relationship between the two is “on a different level.”
After those two visits and near-constant communication between Bostic and the Mountaineers, he decided that he had seen enough.
“In the end, West Virginia has what I want,” Bostic said. “I love the education, the facilities and the culture.
“It is almost heaven and I can’t wait to hear ‘Country Roads.’”
