Oklahoma offensive lineman Josh Aisosa commits to transfer to West Virginia

Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman Josh Aisosa has committed to transfer to the West Virginia Mountaineers, On3 has learned. He spent one season with the Sooners.
Josh Aisosa initially went to Oklahoma as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 1,635th-ranked player nationally and the 137th-ranked interior offensive lineman in that recruiting cycle. He had played his high school football at Santa Fe in Oklahoma.
After choosing Oklahoma over Iowa State, North Texas, Tulsa, and others, before enrolling in January of 2024. However, Josh Aisosa would not play in 2024 and took a redshirt for his freshman season. He would go on to enter the Transfer Portal this spring, following his entire freshman season and spring practice for the upcoming 2025 season. He had been working as a backup center for Oklahoma this spring.
2024 was the first season for Oklahoma in the SEC. It was a season that saw the Sooners go 6-7 overall and 2-6 in SEC play. They’d also lose their bowl game against Navy. Throughout the season, the struggles on offense were a consistent talking point for Oklahoma too, prompting some major changes on that side of the ball. That includes new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, who brought quarterback John Mateer with him from Washington State.
The Sooners have been very active in the Transfer Portal overall. With that, Oklahoma has the 44th-ranked transfer class this cycle, which includes six offensive linemen who have left Oklahoma through the Transfer Portal, including Josh Aisosa. On top of that, the Sooners have added another three offensive linemen through the portal.

With that coaching change, West Virginia has also been active in the Transfer Portal this offseason. The Mountaineers have the 57th-ranked class this transfer cycle, with a class that has lost 41 players and added 37 new ones.
