Former West Virginia star running back Noel Devine has been hired to the Mountaineers staff, according to a report from Mike Asti.

Asti did not reveal what role Devine will be in. He is one of the best players in West Virginia history, having rushed for 4,315 yards and 29 touchdowns during his college career.

Devine also had 98 receptions for 710 yards and two touchdowns in his college career. He finished his career with more than 5,000 total yards of offense. Devine is a member of the West Virginia Hall of Fame. He earned All-Big East honors twice during his career. He is WVU’s career all-purpose yardage leader with 5,761.

The Florida native helped West Virginia to the 2008 Fiesta Bowl, 2008 Meineke Car Care Bowl, 2010 Gator Bowl and 2010 Champs Sports Bowl. West Virginia won 38 games during Devine’s four-year career. The Mountaineers won at least nine games during all four seasons.

After playing at West Virginia, Devine signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent ahead of the 2011 season. He also played professionally in the UFL and in Canada.

Report: West Virginia expected to hire Oklahoma’s Chuck Lillie as general manager

West Virginia is reportedly adding another member of the Oklahoma football staff to its program. The Mountaineers are hiring Oklahoma assistant general manager Chuck Lillie to their program, according to Matt Zenitz.

Lillie was previously a scouting analyst at Kansas State. He spent only one season with the Sooners program. Lillie is the second Oklahoma staff member to leave for West Virginia this week, joining Zac Alley, who left his position as OU defensive coordinator to be the DC for the Mountaineers.

Lillie spent four seasons at Kansas State as a scouting analyst, before working as the assistant GM at Oklahoma in 2024. He also previously spent time at Clemson, where he got his degree. In addition, Lillie has worked for the New York Giants. He will now work under Rich Rodriguez at West Virginia. Rodriguez was hired this offseason to return to WVU.

As for Alley, will be reunited with Rich Rodriguez after previously working with new WVU coach Rich Rodriguez at Jacksonville State.

Alley spent two years under Rodriguez with the Gamecocks before making his way to Norman this year. The Sooners ranked No. 5 in the SEC in total defense in their first year in the league, and their 115.08 rush yards allowed also ranked Top-5 in the league.
