West Virginia forward Ofri Naveh is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, his agent told Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68. He redshirted this past season, and will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

During his time with West Virginia, Naveh scored 2.6 points and pulled down 2.5 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season. As he looks to get back into college basketball, we’ll see where he ends up playing next season.

The college basketball transfer portal officially opened for business on Monday, March 24, and will close 30 days later on Tuesday, April 22. More than 1,000 players had already entered their names.

Last spring alone, 1,962 Division I players tested the portal waters. Based on the early numbers from this year, even more could follow. For the first time in history, more than half of the points scored in college basketball were scored by players from the transfer portal, not high school, in the 2024-25 season.

In data gathered over the first two years with transfer windows, the NCAA found most athletes enter the portal within the first four weeks of the portal opening. The study showed that 73% of men’s and women’s basketball undergraduate athletes entered during the first four weeks. That increased to 82% for men and 86% for women in 2024.

Meanwhile, former North Texas forward Brenen Lorient has committed to West Virginia via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Lorient transferred to North Texas last offseason after spending his first two collegiate seasons at Florida Atlantic.

In his lone campaign with the Mean Green, Lorient averaged 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 24.9 minutes per game. He shot 56.9% from the field and 47.8% from beyond the arc. However, it’s worth noting he only 23 3-pointers throughout the season.

Lorient had his best performance of the season in North Texas’ 76-67 win over Temple on Jan. 22. In the triumph, Lorient erupted for a season-high 20 points and 13 rebounds on 8-14 shooting from the floor.

In Brenen Lorient’s two seasons at FAU, he made 52 total appearances. He never started for the Owls and only averaged 8.8 minutes per game during his sophomore season.

Lorient played high school basketball at Calvary Christian Academy (FL), where he was a three-star recruit. He was the No. 243 overall recruit and No. 51 power forward in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
